Edmond, and sister, Edith, has been accepted to UC Berkeley and plans

to study mechanical engineering.

Eun introduced her parents, Susan and Peter, before telling club

members about her plans to study engineering at USC.

Jamie is planning to attend Brigham Young University where she

will pursue a degree in physical therapy. From La Canada High School,

Peter Wannier and his wife, Lenora, accepted an award on behalf of

their son, Gregory, who was unable to attend the dinner. Gregory

plans to attend UCLA in the fall.

As well, Kathy Cheney accepted an award on behalf of her son,

Matthew, who could not be present at the dinner. Matthew will attend

USC to play baseball.

Finally, Tom Hurlbutt accepted his own award and introduced his

father, Tom Sr., to the assembled members and guests. Tom will attend

Stanford to study computer science. Before accepting his award he

thanked the Lions saying he was honored to have received the

scholarship and he will use it wisely.

La Crescenta residents Ashley Gagliardi and Nancy Stone attended

the dinner meeting to update the club about the project they are

working on and to thank the Lions for their support. They have

launched a Web site at cvteens.org, which serves as an on-line

resource center for teenagers in the foothills area.

The Web site has job listings, suggestions for activities and

places to go, as well as homework help. Crescenta-Canada Lions

provided the seed money to help get the site off the ground.

In its first week of existence, the site received 130 hits, or

visits to the site by interested teenagers. Gagliardi and Stone, both

local moms with teenage children, want to help younger teens find

temporary employment, such as baby-sitting or yard work, during the

summer months. They are looking for employers and people who want to

hire teenagers for temporary work.
