A little less than a week remaining before Dave Ritchie finally

ends his hectic schedule.

A little more than a dozen games before Ritchie and his volunteers

put an end to their Little League responsibilities.

And then, at least for Ritchie, the District 16 Administrator,

it's his turn to take a well-deserved vacation.

But not before District 16 hosts the Senior Softball and Minor

Baseball Section 2 Tournaments at Montrose Park, beginning this

afternoon at noon and 1 p.m., respectively.

Roughly $1,000 in expenses -- which comes out of the District 16

budget -- and a month of organizing goes into the annual Section 2

Tournaments held by District 16, which has chosen to host the

tournaments at Montrose Park for the first time in six years.

"[Our goal is] to run a well-organized tournament that our guests

are able to enjoy," Ritchie said.

"It's nice when [team's] managers or presidents come over and

thank you and tell you they had a great time."
