July 30, 2002

The Crescenta Valley Soccer Club under-13 girls' team, coached by

CV High girls' soccer Coach Reggie Rivas, brought home their second

consecutive white division championship at the 11th annual Claremont

On July 22, CV defeated the So-Cal Gunners in the championship

match, 3-0.

Nancy Avesyan, Kim Carcich, and Candice Chessum all scored in the

match.

In the semifinal match earlier that day, a goal by Richelle

Mascaro on a free kick was enough to defeat Pacific Soccer Club of

Rancho Santa Margarita, 1-0.

In the quarterfinals July 21, CV defeated Canyon Classic of

Anaheim, 8-0. Hannah Green, Avesyan, and Carcich each scored a pair

of goals. Elise Franklin and Mascaro added the other two.

CV's record for the three-day tournament was 4-2. The CV girls'

under-12 team, also coached by Rivas, saw action in the Claremont

Tournament as well, while the CV girls' under-11 team, coached by

Andrea Otero, played in the Freeway Jam at the Rose Bowl.

These three CV teams, along with the boys' under-11 team, coached by Dave Verso, will begin play in the competitive Coast Soccer League

in the fall.
