Wanted: someone with experience as a city clerk, able to perform

at a department head level.

It's been about three months since former La Canada Flintridge

City Clerk Deborah Fancett resigned to accept a position with Culver

City, and officials here are still looking for a replacement.

early to tell if there are any potential candidates, City Manager

Jerry Fulwood said. "Hopefully we will know more over the next 30

days," said Fulwood, who had originally hoped the $74,328-a-year

position could be filled in 60 to 90 days. "We are leaving the

position open until filled."

Aside from being responsible for normal city clerk duties, the

position requires someone who could manage the city Web site and is

knowledgeable on legislative tracking, Fulwood added.

"This person would perform a high level of service to the city,"

he said.

The city has not had to worry about who will take over Fancett's

duties in the meantime. Interim city clerks have been filling in

since her departure May 23. Jean Ushijima served part time until June

14, and Caroline DeLlamas has been serving full time since then.

"I'm going to be available until they fill the position," she

said.

Fancett accepted a position as Chief Administrative Officer of

Culver City, a position like that of an assistant city manager. She

had been with La Canada Flintridge for just more than a year,

arriving on April 21, 2001.
