Quintero is the founder and director of Alliance for Education, a
vocational training and job placement organization that serves
Burbank, Glendale, La Canada Flintridge and Los Angeles.
He was selected by the New Horizons board of directors, along with
U.S. Treasurer Rosario Marin (Woman of the Year) and the Disney
VoluntEARS (Organization of the Year).
"Frank has done a lot for south Glendale and the families of south
Glendale," New Horizons Executive Director Maria Rochart said Monday.
"He's helped the youth of south Glendale find jobs."
For the past five years Quintero has been a member of the New
Horizons Advisory Board, which focuses on fund-raising, and makes
recommendations to the board of directors.
"Frank's very deserving," Rochart said. "He's been a great mentor
and a good friend to all of us at New Horizons."
Said Quintero: "I'm very surprised and humbled to receive the
award. But it's really about New Horizons and the great work the
organization does in Glendale."
The Sept. 28 fund-raiser will be the organization's largest.
Money raised from the event -- which netted $65,000 last year --
will be used to fund day care and after-school programs, Rochart
said.
Last month, New Horizons expanded its counseling and after-school
programs by acquiring a second building at 1251 S. Glendale Ave.
