knew that everyone was expecting us to win the World Series again.
When we didn't win, I knew that it wasn't the end of the world, but
it would have been cool to be on top of the world once more.
Kentucky was as beautiful as ever. The cool thing about going back
to the World Series is that I got to see the girls from the different
teams last summer one more time ... Doing all this again was fun, but
I was ready to get back home. Being on the road for two weeks can
make you a little homesick.
The special thing of my summer was that I got to play softball and
go to the World Series and be on the same team with friends that I
care about. Even though the team went through a few bumps, I'm always
going to have a special memory with each and everyone of my
teammates.
This World Series has taught me so much. It's taught me how it
sucks to lose, how friendship is so precious and many more things.
Even though I didn't bring back the gold, I brought back memories
that I'm going to cherish forever. But we still are the World Champs
of 2001!

It was only about two weeks earlier that my Flintridge Sacred
Heart Academy summer league team had played them, and to tell you the
truth, I was completely intimidated during that game. I remember the
car ride home from the game saying to my dad, "Those are the best
players around." To be a part of the team was something I never
thought would be presented to me.
I was more than happy to play for the team, although I did have a
dilemma for the Montana and Kentucky trips. The same time I was
supposed to be there, it was my family's annual trip to our Newport
Beach house and this year, it just so happened to be the same year
that all of my friends and everyone I knew were going to be down
there for that same period of time.
But in any event, I talked to my family and realized it was a
once-in-a-lifetime experience. I will never regret that decision for
one minute ... It was awesome to win the regionals. For those few
