All families are asked to support the school's annual gift wrap
fund-raiser, which begins on Monday. Proceeds go toward outdoor
education camp for sixth-graders. The monthly parent coffee will be
at 8 a.m. Friday in the school cafeteria.
R.D. White Elementary
Eat at Burger King on the corner of Central Avenue and Doran
between 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday to help raise money for the annual
family picnic at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 20 at Verdugo Park. Teachers
traditionally organize games for their classes; parents help out by
selling pizza, cold drinks and school T-shirts; and sixth-graders and
their parents will be selling baked goods to raise money for their
activities.
Verdugo Woodlands Elementary
Back to School Night is scheduled for Sept. 19. That also will be
a minimum day for grades first to sixth, with dismissal at 12:20 p.m.
Afternoon kindergarteners will team up with morning kindergarteners
that day. Arrival time for both groups is 8 a.m. with dismissal at
11:31 a.m. The school's annual gift wrap fund-raiser is Sept. 16 to
24.
Roosevelt Middle School
School picture day is Sept. 23. Back to School Night is Sept. 26
and it will be a minimum day with dismissal for all students at the
lunch hour.
Wilson Middle School
Sherry Stockhamer is the school's new assistant principal,
following Debbie Rinder's recent move to Glendale High School, where
she is now an assistant principal.
Glendale High School
PTSA president Carol Hounsell said new parents can find out how to
help their students get the most from their high school experience at
the first PTSA meeting of the school year, set for 7 p.m. Monday in
the school library.
