A needle-point trunk show of Halloween and Christmas designs can

be seen at Needle in a Haystack, 2262 Honolulu Ave., Montrose. Hours

Pastor Ken Simon will conduct a series of parenting classes

beginning with supper from 6:15 to 6:45 p.m. at the First Lutheran

Church, 1300 E. Colorado St. The class will be at 7 p.m. Child care

The Glendale Presbyterian Church will begin the fall schedule for

the "Alpha Program'' from 6:45 to 9:45 p.m. at 1332 Justin Ave. The

program is an introduction to the Christian faith. The weekly program

"Choosing Books for Your Preschool Children" is an informational

program from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Glendale Central Library, 222 E.

Harvard St. The staff will share good ideas and tips for finding just

The Verdugo Hills Sierra Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the Los

Angeles Zoo, 5333 Zoo Drive, Los Angeles. The speaker will be John

"The Art of Charreria: A Mexican Tradition" is on display through

Oct. 20 at The Autry Museum of Western Heritage, 4700 Western

Heritage Way, Los Angeles. The exhibit celebrates the art and

culture of Mexico's national sport and its enduring legacy in the

United States. The museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through

Sunday. Admission is $7.50, $5 for seniors and students and $3 for
