The Holiday Festival continues today and Sunday at Descanso
Gardens.
Santa Claus will be available to visit with children and have
pictures taken with them from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.
Guests can do their gift shopping at the Holiday Marketplace,
featuring home-baked goods, gift items, crafts, ornaments, living
wreathes, holiday decorations and pre-owned items from Grandma's
Attic.
The Boddy House has been transformed into a Poinsettia Gallery
with lavish displays of the favorite holiday plant in a variety of
colors, sizes and shapes, as well as beautifully decorated trees.
There will be holiday snacks, music and free tram tours. Descanso
Gardens is at 1418 Descanso Drive in La Canada Flintridge. Hours are
9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. Descanso is closed on Christmas Day.
Admission is $5; $3 for seniors and students; $1 for children 5 to
12; and free for members and children 5 and younger.
Cancer Society thrift shops offer specials
As a holiday thank you to its customers, the American Cancer
Society Discovery Shops are giving its shoppers a $10 gift
certificate for any purchase of $50 of more, redeemable for
merchandise at any Discovery Shop in California.
The Burbank shop is at 500 N. Victory Blvd. The offer is valid
through Dec. 20. In addition, on Dec. 28, the shops will have a
Before and After Sale before New Year's and after the early-winter
religious holidays, and offer a 20% savings on regularly priced
merchandise.
Proceeds from Discovery Shop purchases go to cancer research,
education, advocacy and services for patients and their families. All
donations are tax-deductible.
Volunteers and donations all year around are welcome.
Providence Health offers senior programs
Two programs for seniors are provided through the Beyond 50
Program, sponsored by the Providence Health System.
A free Diabetic Workshop will be from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Monday at
Providence Health Center, 3413 W. Pacific Ave., #104 in Burbank.
Reservations are required by calling 953-4487 by Monday afternoon.
