If there is ever a natural disaster, these kids will be ready for

it. Local students in grades four through six learned how to protect

their house and other valuables in case of an earthquake or fire

Monday at the Glendale-Crescenta Valley Chapter of the American Red

Cross. The lessons were part of Santa's Safety Workshop, an annual

event offering disaster preparedness courses to children. The

students also learned first aid, basic CPR, pet first aid and

baby-sitting training. Registration can be accepted for the entire

two-week workshop, or on a day-by-day basis. The cost is $10 per

student. For more information, call 243-3121 or visit
