Panthers get defensive in 65-2 victory

Call it the most lopsided win in the history of the Glendale

Panthers.

The Panthers, a YMCA-based 13-year-old boys' team, held the Acton

Crown Valley Colts without a field goal the entire game to earn a

65-2 victory in a Valley Conference game at Glendale High.

The Panthers (5-1) raced to a 20-1 lead in the first quarter and

the Colts didn't score again until they made a free throw in the

fourth quarter.

"We're off to a great start," Coach Mike Hailey said.

"We simply smothered the Colts on defense and they missed every

field goal they attempted.

"We have a very good team this year and an excellent chance to win

conference."

Raymond Beginyan led the Panthers with 16 points and 14 rebounds.

Rafael Gallegos added 10 points and seven rebounds for the Panthers.

Bryan Aghakhani had eight points and eight rebounds for the

Panthers, who also received eight points from David Lee. Mon Gonzales

had six points and three assists for Glendale, which received four

points and nine rebounds from Matt Arevalo.

Neel Mehta and Tyler Magdaleno each scored four points and had six

rebounds. Neil DeJesus had two points, four assists and six steals

for Glendale, which got two points from Armond Tarverdyan.
