Police Chief Randy Adams sworn in Tuesday

February 05, 2003

Glendale's new Police Chief Randy Adams was sworn in before a

crowd that packed the City Council chambers Tuesday night.

The chief wore his new Glendale "blues," or uniform, and took the

oath of office as audience members gave him a standing ovation. His

wife pinned on his badge to make it official.

"I'm very proud to be here tonight," he said.

"I believe that you're entrusted as a chief like a coach of a

team. And certainly, Glendale Police Department is a winning team."

Members of the audience included a slew of Glendale Police

officers, as well as Simi Valley Police officers. Adams served as the

Simi Valley police chief for the past seven years. The 51-year-old

public-safety veteran announced that he has a "zero tolerance for

crime" and would work hard to improve safety in Glendale in any way

possible.
