CV HIGH TO DEFEND 'BOWL' TITLE

Crescenta Valley High School will be the defending 2002 champion

tonight at the 13th annual High School Scholastic Bowl.

The event will be at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at Glendale High

School, 1440 E. Broadway. The event is free and open to the public.

Student teams from Clark Magnet, Crescenta Valley, Glendale and

Hoover high schools will compete by answering questions in subjects

like language arts, social science, math, science and fine arts.

Students compete for nearly $4,000 in scholarships.

Fritz Coleman, KNBC-TV Channel 4 forecaster, will be the

quizmaster at the event.

MAYOR TO DECLARE WEEK OF SAFETY

La Canada Flintridge Mayor Dave Spence will declare the week of

March 24-29 Safe Communities Week on Monday at the regular meeting of

the City Council.

Local organizations, businesses and residents will be encouraged

to increase participation in the community's crime- prevention

efforts. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in council chambers at City

Hall, 1327 Foothill Blvd. For more information, call 790-8880.

NEW STATION TO BE DEDICATED SATURDAY

They're not quite ready to move in yet, but the city's finest

invite the public to attend the dedication ceremony of the new

Glendale Police headquarters.

The ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Refreshments

will be provided and the festivities include public- safety displays

and a building tour.

The new station is on West Isabel Street between Wilson Street and

Broadway, directly across from the existing police station.

LOCAL CHAMBER PLANS RIBBON CUTTING

The Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce will host a

ribbon-cutting ceremony for Property Masters Realty.

The ceremony will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. March 25. The

ribbon-cutting will be at noon. Refreshments will be served. Property

Masters Realty is at 3237 N. Verdugo Road, Glendale.
