BOYS' TENNIS

Hoover 13, Muir 5: The Tornadoes swept all nine doubles sets and

Robert Abedian won twice in singles to lift Lynn Santamaria's squad

to its fourth straight win with Thursday's Pacific League victory at

the Fremont Tennis Center.

The teams of Vahe Kassabian and Marcelo Kim, Joe Kim and Sean Kim,

and James Kim and Eddie Lee allowed only three games in doubles for

Hoover (4-5, 1-0 in league).

Covina Charter Oak 10, Flintridge Prep 8: No. 2 singles player

Nick Kang won two of his three sets Thursday for the visiting Rebels

(3-7) in a nonleague match.

Flintridge Prep's doubles teams of Alex Chao and Matt Egge and

Zach Newman and Alex Hardt won two of their three sets.

The Rebels were without No. 1 singles player Tom McCullough, who

is nursing a sore back.

BOYS' GOLF

Crescenta Valley 383, Valencia 397: Damian Yi carded a

two-over-par 74 Thursday to lead the host Falcons (8-2) in a

nonleague match at Brookside Golf Course No. 1.

Paul Young and Brendt McKnight of CV shot a 75 and 77,

respectively. John Denny fired a 78 and Sol Jung had a 79 for CV.

SOFTBALL

Flintridge Prep 25, Saugus Scotts Academy 0: Rachel Gray, Erin

Prickett and Lexi Parnass each had two hits Thursday for the host

Rebels (3-4) in a nonleague game.

Flintridge Prep pitcher Melissa Pearson (1-0) picked up the win,

striking out seven. Parnass drove in a pair of runs for the Rebels.

BOYS' TRACK AND FIELD

La Canada 78, Blair 39: Daniel Soussa was a double winner for the

Spartans, who cruised in their Rio Hondo League opener Thursday at

home.

Soussa won the high jump with a leap of 5 feet 4 and took the long

jump in 19-0.

Takushi Asada (1,600 meters, 5 minutes 14.66 seconds), David

Chalison (triple jump, 38-0), Paul Crisci (300 intermediate hurdles,

49.48), Nick Sinclitico (shot put, 47-3 1/2) and Lawrence Young

(800, 2:19.3) all won events for La Canada (1-2, 1-0 in league).

GIRLS' TRACK AND FIELD

La Canada 96, Blair 22: Michelle Drugan was a double winner for

the Spartans in Thursday's Rio Hondo League home meet.

Drugan clocked 1 minute 10.04 seconds in the 400 meters and

5:58.07 in 1,600 for La Canada (3-0, 1-0 in league).

Debi Johanson (personal-best 51.21 in 300 low hurdles), Stephanie

Lee (800, 2:34.61), Tara Sharma (3,200, 12:12.14), Lindsay Sherman

(high jump, 5 feet), Krissy Smith (long jump, 14-4), Emma Yedgarian

(shot put, 28 0-1/2) and Amaras Zargarian (100 hurdles, 18.79) all

won events for the Spartans.

BOYS' SWIMMING

La Canada 120, Blair 0: Raudi Gamal, Aaron Hayos and Charles Lee

were double winners for the Spartans in Thursday's Rio Hondo League

road victory.

Simon Chang and Jeff Maginn also won for La Canada (3-0, 2-0 in

league).

GIRLS' SWIMMING

La Canada 120, Blair 10: Dana Follis and Renee Nicholas were both

double winners for the Spartans in Thursday's Rio Hondo League road

win.

Kara Murphy and Jennifer Wetzel also won events for La Canada

(2-1, 2-0 in league).
