Firefighters on a quest to assist burn survivors

GLENDALE -- About 20 fire trucks and several California Highway

Patrol officers will roll through the streets of Glendale today as

part of a quest to provide assistance to burn victims.

The Firefighters Quest for Burn Survivors will stop at the

Glendale Fire Department's Station 21 this afternoon as part of the

tour to raise money by picking up donation checks for burn survivors

during its weeklong tour through Southern and Central California.

Local firefighters founded the organization in 1996. The rally, which will arrive at Station 21 at 3:15 p.m., will feature former

weatherman George Fishbeck and actor Cliff Bemis as celebrity

spokesmen.

First Design Review Board meets today

GLENDALE CITY HALL -- Several projects will be considered when the

city's first Design Review Board meets today.

Applications for a new Carl's Jr. restaurant at 424 W. Los Feliz

Road and a new Sav-on drug store at 400 W. Los Feliz will be

reviewed, along with applications to replace signs at 900 and 1100 S.

Brand Blvd.

A project to demolish three single family homes to build a

three-story, 17-unit condominium complex with a subterranean parking

garage at 370 through 376 Salem St. will also be considered.

The board meets at 1 p.m. today in Room 105 of the Municipal

Services Building at 633 E. Broadway. The meeting will also be

Kickboxing classes offered

GLENDALE -- Those interested in fitness and self-defense can

register for cardio or aerobic kickboxing classes offered by the

city's Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services.

Classes will help develop flexibility, stamina, muscle tone and

self-confidence. Aerobic classes are $65 and cardio kickboxing is

$60.

Aerobic classes are at 8 p.m. Mondays at Dunsmore Park, 4700

Dunsmore Ave. in La Crescenta. Cardio kickboxing is at 9 p.m.

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at Brand Studios, 1601 W. Mountain St.

Classes begin the week of June 23 and run through Aug. 30. The

deadline for registration is June 13.

Police looking for witness to fatal accident

MONTROSE -- Police were searching Wednesday for the driver of a

van who officers believe witnessed a fatal collision between a

motorcycle and a sport utility vehicle.
