Vince got to bat only once during a little league season.

"He got to do exactly what he wanted to do with his life," Jeff

Prugh said. "How many people can truly say that? He really was ahead

of his time in knowing how sports and athletics should relate to the

community. He had a vision of a community that is not only physically

fit, but also intellectually and spiritually, without really saying

it. He just lived it."

Since 1996, the Harold Prugh Award has been given to the local

high school football team that wins the city championship. Prugh was

the first recipient of the Sam Harvey Memorial Award, an award named

in honor of the late Glendale High principal and given each year to

an individual who dedicates many hours of community service.

"He was just a remarkable man, and quite dedicated," said David

Fortune, a longtime member of the popular Quarterback Club. Prugh was

a member of the club for about 40 years. Members meet Tuesdays during

football season and serve as a booster club for local schools. "If

you could identify one person with the [Quarterback Club], Harold

would be it. He was a unique individual and will be sorely missed by

all of us."
