'The Fantasticks' to begin Friday

NORTHWEST GLENDALE -- The Action Reaction Theater Co. will present

the musical "The Fantasticks" as part of the Glendale Summer Theater

Project beginning Friday.

The musical is the longest running in the world, according to the

company. The romantic comedy "The Vinegar Tree" will be presented

later in the month.

Admission is free, but a $10 donation is requested. Those who

attend are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner.

The show is at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday in front of the

Doctor's House Museum in Brand Park at 1601 W. Mountain Ave. The

performance will also run at the same time on July 18 and 19. For

Historical society to give Crescenta Valley tour

LA CRESCENTA -- Gary Keyes, history teacher at Crescenta Valley

High School, will lead a bus tour focusing on the history of the

Crescenta Valley, sponsored by the Crescenta Valley Historical

Society.

The tour, which leaves the Descanso Gardens parking lot at 9 a.m.

Saturday, will include stops at Crescenta Valley historical

landmarks, including the Lanterman House, Sacred Heart Academy, St.

Luke's Church, the Le Mesnager Winery barn and landmark homes in the

valley.

County Supervisor Michael Antonovich is supplying the historical

society with a bus for the event. The historical society requests a

$5 donation for the trip. For more information, call 957-2968.
