Meaux's home run gave La Crescenta a 2-0 lead in the second and
Emmons' shot added an insurance run in the seventh.
Nico Moreno went two for two with a double and two runs scored and
Trevor Gee went two for three with a run for La Crescenta, which
turned four double plays on defense.
LA CANADA BRONCO BASEBALL
La Canada 11, Walnut 9 (8 innings): Eric Smith, Jeff Oechsel and
Garrett Gray each had multiple-hit efforts Sunday to spark La Canada
in the winner's-bracket semifinal game of the 12-year-old division in
the PONY District 1 Tournament at Charter Oak Park in Covina. La
Canada, which rallied from a pair of four-run deficits, will compete
at 7:30 p.m. tonight in the championship contest.
Marshall Sherrod picked up the win after La Canada scored two runs
in the top of the eighth inning. Aaron Fried pitched the eighth for
the save.

MAJOR SOFTBALL
Foothill-Tujunga 13, Jewel City 12: Foothill-Tujunga held on for
the victory in Saturday's second-chance bracket final in the 11- and
12-year-old division at Scholl Canyon Park.
Foothill-Tujunga (1-1) scored six runs in the first and fifth
innings and withstood Jewel City (0-2) scoring 11 runs in the third
and fourth to prevail.
Brittany Wright led Foothill-Tujunga with three hits and two runs,
Jessica Ramirez had two hits -- including a double -- and scored
twice, Aria Agle and Rachael Allen each had a hit and scored two
runs, and Amy Holt singled and scored.
Crescenta Valley 12, Jewel City 1 (4 innings): Baillie Kirker
tossed a one-hitter with two strikeouts and three walks as Crescenta
Valley (2-0) won Friday's winner's-bracket final in the 11- and
12-year-old division at Scholl Canyon Park.
It was the second straight game in the tournament that Jim
Mulligan's squad won by the 10-run mercy rule.
The top four batters in CV's order -- CeCi Prator, Kylie Mulligan,
Kirker and Emma Vine -- reached base safely in all 16 of their
combined plate appearances, lifting their two-game total to reaching
base safely in 31 of 32 plate appearances.
