Health fair to be held at Montrose nursing home

MONTROSE -- A health fair will be from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Saturday at Montrose Nursing Center, 2123 Verdugo Blvd.

The fair will feature bone density testing, cholesterol checks,

blood pressure and sugar checks. Entertainment, snacks and

refreshments will be provided.

Maple Park celebration set for Saturday

SOUTHEAST GLENDALE -- The annual Maple Park Community Celebration

will be held Saturday.

The event is sponsored by the city's Parks, Recreation and

Community Services, Neighborhood Services Division and the Police

Department.

Activities will include informational displays, arts and crafts,

carnival games, a climbing wall, snacks, music and an appearance by

workers from the radio station KBIG-FM (104.3). Admission is free and

open to the public.

The event is at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Maple Park Community

Center, 820 E. Maple St.

Earth tales at the La Crescenta Library

LA CRESCENTA -- The La Crescenta Library is getting down to Earth

this weekend.

As part of its summer reading program, the library is offering a

class entitled "Earth Tales: Intercultural Tales of People Who Live

Close to Earth."

The preschool program meets at 10 a.m. today, the school-age

program at 2 p.m. today and the family program at 2 p.m. Saturday.

All programs are free and are at the library, 4521 La Crescenta Ave.
