Company offers various internships

A Noise Within of Glendale, which has a complete season of classical

theater productions, is offering internship programs beginning in

early August.

Interns have direct access to the company's resident artists who

have graduated from renowned schools such as the American

Conservatory Theatre, Yale School of Drama and Northwestern. Interns

have moved on to professional venues like the Pasadena Playhouse,

California Shakespeare Festival and others.

As part of the program, interns are cast in supporting roles each

season and frequently understudy key roles. Classical scene study

courses culminate in a workshop performance. Hands-on experience is

gained in stage management, props, costumes, sets, lights and sound.

The acting internships have a $550 tuition and run from Aug. 12

to Dec. 3. Admission is by audition and interview.

Production interns receive one-on-one mentoring with professional

artists, designers and technicians in costume design, development,

dramaturgy, lighting design, props, set design, sound and stage

management. Tuition is $100 and the class runs from Aug. 12 to Dec.

21. Admission is by interview and portfolio review.

Directing internships offer one-on-one mentoring with professional

directors from around the world. Tuition is $400 and the class runs

from Aug. 12 through Dec. 21. Admission is by interview and portfolio

review.

A summer fund-raising dinner and concert are planned by the

Presidents Advisory Council of Glendale Aug. 16 at Descanso Gardens.

Funds raised by the Pasadena Pops "An Evening Under the Stars"

dinner and concert event will go to scholarships for students

re-entering Glendale Community College to enhance their careers.

Following a gourmet basket supper, including dessert, coffee and

complimentary wine, guests will hear music of Broadway, ballet and

tango accompanied by the graceful movements of Louise Reichlin and

her Dancers.

Tickets are $50 and can be reserved by calling Shirley Darling at

241-2487. Gates open at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6 and the concert

at 7:30.

The Vibe Studio in Montrose is offering a Musical Theater Camp for

ages 7 to 18 from Monday through Aug. 15 that will culminate in a

production of the beloved musical "Annie."

Youngsters will be offered instruction in dance, singing, acting

and improvisation.
