CV (29-11) will meet Bell-Jeff, a 51-40 winner against Woodland
Hills Louisville in a fifth-place semifinal game, in the fifth-place
game at 3 p.m. today at Bell-Jeff.
The 6-foot-1 Myers was tossed after tangling with Jamie
Rauchwarger of Oak Park (10-11). One of the two game officials
ejected Myers after she received her second technical foul for
unsportsmanlike conduct.
"I got slapped on the wrist while shooting," said Myers, who
blocked one shot and picked up her first technical in the first half.
"Then she said something to me, and the referee gave me a
technical."
Myers had already punished the Eagles with her offensive effort.
She also received some offensive support from guard Lindsey Chessum,
who contributed 11 points and six assists.
CV Coach Bruce Breeden addressed the issues concerning Myers'
ejection and Chessum's offensive output.
"Myers is playing hard, and she has to understand that [the
opponents] are coming back at her," Breeden said.
"They are trying to take her out of her game and see if she will
allow them to get under her skin.
"We talked at halftime and we needed some one else to step it up.
Chessum started it with her defense, and then made some layups."
Myers and Chessum combined for 16 second-half points.
Myers said the Falcons are prepared for a break following a
grueling six-week stretch of summer league tournaments that have
carried them from Glendale to San Diego to Palm Springs.
