Foundation to host home tour

NORTHEAST GLENDALE -- The Verdugo Hills Hospital Foundation is

gearing up for its "Music & Moonlight" event.

The Sept. 20 event showcases three of La Canada Flintridge's

finest homes.

Two of the featured homes will host receptions with a mix of hors

d'oeuvres and cocktails, jazz and champagne, and martinis and magic.

The third home will offer a gourmet moonlight dinner with dancing and

entertainment provided by the Walt Disney Co.

The foundation will provide shuttles between the homes.

Cost is $350 per person and the event is black-tie optional.

Proceeds will benefit the expansion of the hospital's acute-care

services and programs.

Chamber planning program of seminars

GLENDALE -- The Glendale Chamber of Commerce is planning an

ongoing program of seminars to begin in the next several months.

The programs will offer topics of interest to a wide variety of

businesses.

Radio station gets new syndicated host

GLENDALE -- Glendale-based KRLA-AM (870) is airing the nationally

syndicated "The Laura Ingraham Radio Program" from 6 to 9 a.m.

weekdays.

Radio station officials said in a press release that they had been

looking for woman as a host for some time.

Ingraham is a conservative talk-show host. Her program was

launched in April.

She is also an author, a columnist and television commentator.

Frommer bill heads to Senate floor

GLENDALE -- A bill written by a local legislator that seeks to

curb illegal tax shelters is pending on the state Senate floor.

The legislation was written by Assemblyman Dario Frommer

(D-Glendale). It would increase fines for tax-shelter abusers.

The bill was passed by the Senate Appropriations Committee on Aug.
