BOYS' WATER POLO

Mission Hills Alemany 17, Hoover 10: Despite playing with just

eight individuals on their roster, the Tornadoes (0-2) battled

valiantly in Friday's nonleague road match, but fell short in

overtime.

Hoover had the ball with about 10 seconds remaining in regulation

with a chance to win it, but its shot was stopped by the Alemany

goalkeeper.

The Tornadoes -- who were led by Andy Jung's three goals and two

each from Matt Jung and Garen Reyhanian -- battled back from a 4-1

first-quarter deficit to tie it at 5 at the half, and played the

Indians even until the end of regulation, as the teams were

deadlocked at 9.

But in the two three-minute extra periods, fatigue caught up with

Jennifer Freemon's squad, as Alemany scored four times in each period

to Hoover's one.

Will Brouwer, Venil Garabedian and Walker Lere all scored for the

Tornadoes, who received 17 saves from Ryan Bonnelli.

Hoover will play visiting Pasadena at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday in a

Pacific League match.
