The Tornadoes -- who were led by Andy Jung's three goals and two
each from Matt Jung and Garen Reyhanian -- battled back from a 4-1
first-quarter deficit to tie it at 5 at the half, and played the
Indians even until the end of regulation, as the teams were
deadlocked at 9.
But in the two three-minute extra periods, fatigue caught up with
Jennifer Freemon's squad, as Alemany scored four times in each period
to Hoover's one.
Will Brouwer, Venil Garabedian and Walker Lere all scored for the
Tornadoes, who received 17 saves from Ryan Bonnelli.
Hoover will play visiting Pasadena at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday in a
Pacific League match.
GIRLS' TENNIS
Pasadena Poly 16, Hoover 2: The Tornadoes fell to 1-4 on the
season following Friday's nonleague setback at Pasadena City College.
Hoover will begin the Pacific League portion of its schedule with
a 3:15 p.m. match against host Muir on Tuesday.
Crescenta Valley 14, La Canada 4: The Falcons played all 16 girls
on their roster and cruised to Thursday's nonleague victory at the La
Canada Country Club.
Roxy Ionescu swept in singles for CV (4-1), as did Katie Sullivan
in doubles, despite playing with three different partners.
Lauren Hawthorne won twice in doubles, as did Luana Choi, who
paired with Alina Karapetian in one round and Debby Chung in another.
The Spartans dropped their fourth straight match to fall to 1-4.
CV will host Glendale at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday in the Pacific League
opener for both teams.
La Canada will meet Sherman Oaks Notre Dame at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday
in a nonleague match at the Braemar Country Club.
