Darion Simpson caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from quarterback

The Gladiators opened the scoring in the first quarter on a

15-yard run by Kyle Morgan. The offensive line of Taylor Hurley,

Brendon Costi, Danny Yoo, Brandon Hammerli, Tyler Lopez and tight end

Luc Laverdiere opened holes for Morgan, Sam Dodge and Pierce

Hutchins. La Canada wide receiver Chris Sember caught several passes.

On defense, Dodge recorded eight tackles as a linebacker. La

Canada also received stellar defensive outings from Erik Dowling,

Gavin Thomson, Drake Singleton, Jack Smith, Brandon Childs, Bin

Alexander, Kyle Hughes, Anthony Lombardo, Lopez, Hammerli, Eric

Guzman, Laverdiere, Sember, Smiland and Simpson. Sember finished with

seven tackles.

La Canada 38, El Monte Jets 0: La Canada won its second

consecutive contest Saturday in Baldwin Park.

La Canada scored in the first quarter on its first possession on a

28-yard run by running back Chris Rey. Alex Clash had a 15-yard run

to help set up Rey's run. Clash then scored on a 74-yard run to give

the Gladiators a 12-0 lead in the first quarter.

La Canada used some strong defensive play to build a 20-0 halftime

lead. Sean Lacey blocked a punt at the 5-yard line and cornerback

Marcus Thompson recovered the ball for a touchdown. Thompson scored

on the two-point conversion.

La Canada's offensive line was led by Reid Gantney, Bobby Pardo,

Taylor Murphy, Ron Wolter, Bernard Kozacik, Kevin Cude and tight end

Andrew Szot.

On defense, Lacy and linebackers Darwin Bacelis and Robinson each

blocked a punt. Zak Coffee, Phil Moses, Andrew Farestveit, Joe

Cuellar, Charles Kimbrough and Nick Alegria stopped El Monte's

running attack.

Parker Haleen, Ryan Michael, Schuyler Murphy and Shelton Miles

played well on defense for La Canada.

After Bacelis blocked a punt, Robinson threw a 24-yard touchdown

pass to wide receiver Chris Hieber to make it 26-0 in the third

quarter. La Canada closed out the scoring in the third quarter on a

35-yard run by Rey to make it 32-0. Robinson had earlier blocked a

punt.
