Unorganized not limited to administration

September 30, 2003

I see from Friday's News-Press that students have returned to

Rosemont Middle School after a week off. I am glad the district has

checked everything out and the school is safe. What I don't

understand is why teachers needed the early morning on Thursday to

prepare, and students didn't arrive until 9 a.m. and then for an

assembly, not classes.

Of course, I went to school in the Glendale Unified School

District in a time long past, with teachers who prepared at home and

before regular school hours. Those teachers would have prepared

during the week that Rosemont was closed.

The students may have not "missed a beat," as Assistant Principal

Sowers said, but they missed a lot of class time. Starting on time

Thursday with classes would have helped make it up.

Eye on the ball (students) not the employee (teachers.)
