Officer Matthew Pavelka and severely injured veteran Officer Gregory

Campbell.

Garcia, who is being held without bail, also faces special

circumstance allegations for the murder of a peace officer in the

line of duty, and murder for the purpose of avoiding arrest --

charges that could make him eligible for the death penalty if

convicted.

In addition, the alleged gang member is also charged with

transporting methamphetamine and possessing a machine gun and an

assault rifle.

More than 200 officers from several local and national

law-enforcement agencies, including the Glendale Police Department,

collaborated to find Garcia. During the investigation, more than 60

people were arrested in connection to the incident.

NORTHEAST GLENDALE -- Glendale Police were searching Tuesday for a

man they believe robbed another man at gunpoint.

A Glendale man reported Monday that a man pointed a gun at him and

demanded his money after asking for directions.

The man, who had been unloading his truck in the driveway of a

house in the 3000 block of Menlo Drive, threw the gunman his wallet

with $500 in it and tried to hide near the house, police said. The

gunman followed him and warned him not to tell anyone, then fled on

foot, according to police reports.

The gunman was described as a Latino man about 5 feet 6, in his

mid-30s with a dark complexion, wearing a short-sleeved white

T-shirt, faded blue jeans, white tennis shoes and a black baseball

cap, according to police. The man told officers the gunman spoke with

a slight accent and had "very crooked teeth."

Anyone with information about the robbery can call the Glendale

Police Department at 548-4840. Anonymous tips can be made by calling

Crime Stoppers at 507-7867.
