Alhambra 12, Flintridge Prep 8: Tiffany Kim tallied four goals and
Jen Fairbanks added two goals for the Rebels (0-3) in Tuesday's
nonleague home match.
Jamie Park and Jamie Tijerina also scored for Flintridge Prep,
which hosts Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy in another nonleague
contest at 3:15 p.m. today.
BOYS' SOCCER
L.A. Cathedral 4, Flintridge Prep 0: The Rebels were shut out in
Tuesday's nonleague match at the Glendale Sports Complex.
Flintridge Prep is now 3-2.
GIRLS' SOCCER
Temple City 6, Glendale 0: The Nitros' offensive woes continued in
Tuesday's nonleague home loss.
Vanessa Aragon recorded three saves and Maya Nahat added five in
the second half, but without three starters, Bob Francis' squad (0-5)
couldn't mount a consistent offensive attack.
Glendale returns to nonleague action at 3:15 p.m. Thursday at
Moyse Field against La Canada (1-4).
Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 2, Oak Park 1: Hannah Hand scored
with less than seven minutes remaining off an assist from Katie
Woods, as the Tologs (3-0) knocked off the defending CIF Southern
Section Division V co-champion in Monday's nonleague road match.
Woods opened the scoring less than five minutes into the match off
an assist from Hand, who tied Hilary Warner for second all-time on
Flintridge Sacred Heart's career points list with 76 (28 goals and 20
assists) in 44 matches. Hand leads the area this season with six
goals and 15 points.
Betsy McGovern had five saves for the Tologs, who travel to play
Pasadena Poly -- the defending Division IV co-champion -- at 3:15
p.m. Thursday at McKinley Field.
BOYS' BASKETBALL
Hoover 63, Magnolia 53: The Tornadoes led by as much as 20 in the
third quarter as they handily won Tuesday's pool-play game of the
Fullerton Tournament at Fullerton High.
Romik Abolian led the way with 12 points off the bench for
Hoover, which improved to 2-3 on the season and faces Fullerton today
in another pool-play game.
St. Francis 63, South Pasadena 56: Behind 17 points from Scott
Burton and 15 points from Chris Johnson, the Golden Knights improved
to 3-1 with Monday night's nonleague road victory.
