The Crescenta Valley Flames, a 13-and-under boys' soccer team, fared

well at Coast Soccer League Cup in early December in San Bernardino.

Despite injuries to several athletes, the Flames were able to

split a pair of tournament matches.

Crescenta Valley, which is coached by Kevin Williams, started with

a 4-2 loss and rebounded with a 3-0 victory.

The Flames were led by David Rios Jr., Sean Taylor, John Borlund,

Chris Butler, Erik Stahlheber, Michael Weinberg, Andy Iraheta,

Garrett Gray, Mitchell Garner, Kyle Jones, Eric Smith, Jonathan

Gamez, Gabe Ramirez, Kevin Swick and Austin Williams.

The Crescenta Valley soccer club, a first-year 11-and-under girls'

team, placed second in the Bronze Bracket of the Coast Soccer League

on Dec. 12.

CV (10-3-1), which has scored 35 goals this season and yielded 13,

will automatically compete next year in the Silver Bracket.

CV is coached by Andrea Otero.

The players are Cecilia Martinez, Carli Opland, Amanda Slover,

Jordan Royer, Delani Curtis, Krystina Oberhammer, Vanessa Capra, Sara

Norwall, Hannah Gerald, Whitney Cowell, Olivia Sierra, Savannah

Rhoads, Hannah Lowenthal, Kate Sappell and goalkeeper Allie Woodward.

CV finished second in the California Sun and Surf Tournament, and

it also competed at the Nike Harvest Cup Tournament.
