agricultural and other businesses hire them. Therefore, it is, in my
view, an outrageous complaint.
Mexico is a country that is unable to take care of its own people
due to their own problems politically and due to the corruption in
their government.
If the undocumented workers are to obtain a California driver's
license, then we in California should require that all who are
undocumented and want to work in the United States be involved in a
guest worker program with the proper identification. Also, we should
have all important information about these individuals documented in
order to allow them to work in the United States. Only then should
they receive a driver's license in California, and the license should
be a temporary one that states, on the license, that the person is in
the guest worker program and has proof of auto insurance covered
either by the worker or by the Mexican government.
Additionally, these individuals should not be able to use our
health facilities for free -- the Mexican government should pay for
medical coverage for all workers in the program not receiving medical
coverage from their employers. Additionally, I do not believe in
forcing any employer to pay for free medical benefits for employees
-- this should be strictly voluntary.
Education, also, should be paid for by the Mexican government, as
well as any other free services these individuals receive that are
paid for by taxes collected from those who are American citizens or
are here with the correct documentation. After all, much of the
income generated by these undocumented workers is sent back to Mexico
or perhaps other countries for their families, and many of these
undocumented workers do not pay taxes. I would bet that if Mexico had
to pay for their workers' services here, there would be such a
sucking sound from Mexico that we would no longer have this problem.
I have read in the Los Angeles Times that individuals who live in
the San Fernando Valley and who are not here legally are complaining
about the services in their respective communities, but are not able
