Accused officer's preliminary hearing delayed

GLENDALE -- The preliminary hearing for a Glendale Police officer

accused of stalking and assault was postponed Wednesday to Feb. 20.

Jason Price, 28, was charged Sept. 22 with stalking, false

imprisonment and assault, plus a special allegation of carrying a

firearm after allegedly assaulting a 21-year-old Sunland woman. The

woman was reportedly his girlfriend.

The preliminary hearing will determine whether enough evidence

exists against Price to bring the case to trial.

Arraignment postponed indefinitely for accused embezzler

GLENDALE -- The arraignment of a La Crescenta woman accused of

embezzling $30,000 from Lincoln Elementary School's Foundation fund

was postponed indefinitely Wednesday while detectives continue their

investigation.

Kenya Duke-Owens, 35, allegedly siphoned the money from the fund

while she served as president and treasurer of the foundation for the

school, where her child was a student. She was arrested Dec. 5 and

released the same day on $20,000 bail. Duke-Owens could not be

reached Wednesday for comment.

Charges of embezzlement and grand theft have not been filed

against Duke-Owens because detectives are awaiting bank records,

Glendale Police financial crimes Sgt. Todd Stokes said.

Big rig accident shuts down lane on Foothill (210) Freeway

NORTHWEST GLENDALE -- The right lane of the east Foothill (210)

Freeway was closed Wednesday morning for nearly two hours after two

big rigs collided.

A tractor trailer hauling fertilizer rear-ended another tractor

trailer with an attached flat bed about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, west of

Dunsmore Avenue, California Highway Patrol Officer Vince Bell said.

No fertilizer leaked, so hazardous materials teams were not called to

the scene, Bell said. The driver of the flatbed complained of pain,

but no one else was hurt in the accident, he said. The lane was

reopened about 10:20 a.m.

Man allegedly throws knife at ex-girlfriend

SOUTHEAST GLENDALE -- A Baldwin Park man faces charges today of

assault with a deadly weapon after threatening to stab his

ex-girlfriend and her male friend.

Hien Duc Vo, 27, was arrested Tuesday after threatening to stab

his ex-girlfriend's male friend as they returned to her apartment

from dinner with her 14-year-old son, according to police reports. Vo

was being held Wednesday on $50,000 bail.

Vo reportedly yelled at his ex-girlfriend and called her names

before going into the kitchen for a knife. The woman's friend left to

call police, according to reports.
