Golden Knights keep rolling in tournament

BASEBALL

St. Francis 13, Paraclete 1: The Golden Knights improved to 2-0

with Monday's pool-play victory at Temple City High in the Arcadia

Elks Tournament.

Andy Marquardt led the way, pitching a complete game for the

victory. He also added a grand slam in the seventh to key a six-run

inning.

Matt La Russa (three hits) and Christian Bergman (two hits) also

had strong outings.

BOYS' GOLF

Crescenta Valley 216, Hoover 286: The Falcons easily won Monday's

Pacific League match at the Oakmont Country Club.

David Langer, Paul Young and Damian Yi each shot 41 for CV (2-0).

Walker Lere (44) and Nash Tannarong (45) led the way for Hoover

(0-2).

BOYS' TRACK AND FIELD

Glendale 90, Burbank 42: The Nitros opened their season winning 14

of the 16 events during Thursday's nonleague meet.

Phi Le, Neil DeJesus and Joshua Edmonson each won two events for

the Nitros. Le won the long jump with a leap of 19 feet nine inches

and the triple jump (39-10).

GIRLS' TRACK AND FIELD

Glendale 69, Burbank 67: Kim Ramirez won three events to spark he

Nitros (1-0) in Thursday's nonleague meet.

Ramirez captured the high jump with a leap of 5 feet 1. She also

won the long jump (15-2 1/2) and triple jump (33-5).

Glendale had three athletes win two events in Eliza Donikyan,

Heidi Diaz and Cindy Crosby.
