The Vaqueros will play Citrus again at 2 p.m. Thursday on the

road.

Glendale Community College 17, L.A. Valley College 1: The Vaqueros

had 21 hits in support of starter and winning pitcher Bryan Robinson,

and relievers Daniel Caldwell, Daniel Yaacobi and Billy Spottiswood

in Saturday's Western State Conference Southern Division win.

Spottiswood also led GCC (5-6, 2-1 in division) with four hits.

Chris Oliver and Matt Jordan homered to pace the Vaqueros. Blake

Gailen and Mark Torre each tripled, and Jesse Hirdler doubled and had

three hits.

Glendale Community College 10, L.A. Valley 8: GCC improved to 4-6,

1-1 in the Western State Conference Southern Division with Thursday's

win.

COLLEGE SOFTBALL

Ventura College 6, Glendale Community College 1: GCC fell to 4-14,

2-2 in the Western State Conference after losing to Ventura on

Friday.

GCC split four games last week. It lost to Cuesta College, 10-2,

on March 1, beat Moorpark College, 7-2, on March 3, and defeated L.A.

Pierce College, 15-2, on Thursday before losing to Ventura.

In the win against L.A. Pierce, the Vaqueros stole eight bases and

had 10 hits. Pitcher Cassie Acosta notched the win.

Whitney Large, Barbara Reguengo and Christy De La Rosa had two

hits apiece. Veronica Patin added a double. Cindy Torres had two

steals.

WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD

Behind Sayan Dehghan, Glendale Community College finished fourth

in a Western State Conference meet Friday at College of the Canyons.

Dehghan won the pole vault with a vault of 9 feet 6. Jody Maxwell

finished second in the 400-meter race in 1 minute 2.2 seconds and

Vanessa Banks took second in the 200 in 26.47.

Julia Flores was third in the 3,000 in 11:26 and Sandra Prado was

fourth in the 1,500 in 5:04.4.

MEN'S TRACK AND FIELD

The Glendale Community College men's team took fourth in a Western

State Conference meet Friday at College of the Canyons.

Danny Vargas won the 800-meter race in 2 minutes 0.2 seconds.

Aaron Floyd took second in the long jump with a leap of 19 feet 6.

Humberto Espino's personal-best time of 4:06.7 in the 1,500 was

good for second place.

Chris Snyder was second in the 5,000 (15:52.2), and Trey Jones was

third in the 200 (22.45). and fourth in the 400 (51.6), and Raymundo

Vasquez was third in the 1,500 in a personal-best mark of 4:07.7.
