Man shot after

Glendale visit

GLENDALE -- Los Angeles Police detectives are investigating the

friend in Glendale.

Garen Ketikyan was shot once in the head just after midnight

Tuesday on the northbound Hollywood (170) Freeway in North Hollywood.

The shooting might have been the result of a silent confrontation

between Ketikyan and two motorcyclists about 10 minutes before at

Oxnard Street and Victory Boulevard, said Ketikyan's passenger, a

20-year-old man who was not identified by police.

A white late-model Mustang with chrome wheels and dealer plates

reportedly pulled up alongside Ketikyan's car and opened fire, police

said.

Burglar looking

for lottery luck

NORTHWEST GLENDALE -- Police were on the lookout Tuesday for a

burglar who sought to multiply his luck by stealing a roll of

California Lottery scratchers from Broadway Mart and Deli.

A clerk told police that on Sunday a man initially walked in to

the store, at 508 W. Broadway, trying to buy beer, but didn't have

enough money to pay. The man returned later and asked for a lighter.

When the clerk turned his back, the man grabbed the plastic box

holding the roll of "Fantastic 40s" scratchers and ran outside.

It was not known Tuesday how many scratchers, which are worth $2

each, were left in the box.

The man fled west on his 10-speed bicycle on Broadway toward

Kenilworth Avenue. The burglar is described a white man who is 20 to

22, about 5 feet 6 inches tall with a medium build. The man had black

hair and wore a gray shirt, black pants and had a goatee.

Anyone with any information about this incident can call Glendale

Police at 548-4840. Anonymous tips can be made by calling Crime

Stoppers at 507-7867.
