Board members should be able to take criticism

March 12, 2004

While viewing the Glendale Unified School District School Board

meeting on Feb. 17, I was shocked to see board member Mary Boger

shedding tears regarding the criticism the board received for not

getting input from the district's Council PTA on adjusting the

calendar for the Jan. 6 Armenian Christmas.

The district's Council PTA criticized board members for not

partnering with parents on this issue. The Council PTA represents

only a small segment of the parents in this district and does not

represent the large ethnic population that resides in Glendale.

Getting back to Mary Boger -- it seems that she is too emotionally

unstable to represent the students in the Glendale Unified School

District as a board member. This isn't the first time she became so

emotional over a subject that she shed her tears. If you can't handle

the heat, get out of the kitchen. (Maybe Boger should be a

professional PTA member).

During this difficult time, we need emotionally strong board

members to make 'hard decisions' and represent our diversified

student population.
