Four accidents jam the 134 Freeway on Friday night

March 27, 2004

Three people were in critical condition Friday after four accidents,

including one where a person was partially ejected from a car, jammed

traffic Friday on both sides of the Ventura (134) Freeway.

Two people were taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena,

while two others were taken to Glendale-area hospitals, Glendale Fire

Battalion Chief Bob Doyle said. No further information about the

victims was available Friday.

The four accidents occurred along a one-mile stretch of highway

from the Glendale (2) Freeway at the Ventura Freeway up to Brand

Boulevard within 15 minutes of each other, Doyle said.

One rollover accident reported at 7:14 p.m. at the transition road

from the southbound 2 to the westbound 134 required a SigAlert for 30

minutes because a person had to be extricated with the Jaws of Life.

Another SigAlert was issued for about 45 minutes further down the

134, closing four of the five traffic lanes, while another accident

involving five cars was cleared.

The other two accidents were non-injury, Doyle said, and it was

not known whether the four accidents were related.
