services will be offered at 6 a.m. at Forest Lawn's Covina Hills,
Cypress, Hollywood Hills and Long Beach locations.
Most of the Glendale service will be presented in Spanish, with
brief interludes in English.
The nondenominational service is presented in Spanish to provide a
special event for the Spanish-speaking portion of the community that
regularly attends Forest Lawn events, said Alison Bruesehoff,
executive director for the museum at Forest Lawn Glendale. Forest
Lawn has presented annual Easter sunrise events since the 1920s. The
service is expected to last about an hour.
"It's going to be a wonderful community program," Bruesehoff said.
"Visitors will hear about Easter and its meaning, and be able to meet
their fellow community members in a beautiful setting."
Elizabeth Conde-Frazier, a theology professor at the Claremont
School of Theology, will speak on the meaning of Easter at Glendale's
service.
The Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills service will be at 6 a.m. Sunday
in the forecourt of the "Birth of Liberty" mosaic at Forest Lawn
Hollywood Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles.
Lloyd Ogilvie, retired chaplain of the United States Senate and
pastor emeritus with the First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood, will
share an inspirational message during the Hollywood Hills service.
The Rev. Galen Goben, the Disciples of Christ minister from
Foothill Christian Church in Glendale, and the Rev. John Griffin,
from Crescent Heights United Methodist Church in West Hollywood, will
also speak at the Hollywood Hills service.
