LCUSD presses City Council for sewer relief

LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE -- Members of the La Canada Unified School

District board have asked the La Canada Flintridge City Council for

help in paying for proposed sewers.

The deadline to submit votes on Sewer District No. 3a is June 8.

The school district's headquarters and Palm Crest Elementary are in

the sewer district. If passed, the school district would have to pay

$767,000 for sewers. But facing budget problems, school district

officials are hard-pressed for the money.

The school board will have a special meeting Tuesday to discuss

the issue.

Dreier gets his own GCC classroom

NORTHEAST GLENDALE -- Glendale Community College officials honored

Rep. David Dreier (R-La Crescenta) Thursday by dedicating Room 115 in

the Arroyo Seco Building in his name.

College officials honored Dreier for helping GCC obtain a $100,000

grant to support its K-12 science-training program at the Cimmarusti

Science Center.

The college started the training program in September to provide

science lessons in geology, chemistry and other fields of science for

students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Students who participate

in the program also watch shows in the college's planetarium.

Dreier took a tour of the campus in a golf cart with GCC President

John Davitt and also took a walking tour of the science center before

watching a show in the planetarium and speaking at the dedication.
