awarded the grant to Glendale High. It will be paid out over three

years. The grant provides a start-up budget of $25,000, and $25,000

in operation funds to develop various programs that would add more

officers on campuses and work to prevent hate crimes, among other

things.

VOTE

The board voted 5-0 to accept the grant.

HOMEWORK POLICY REVISION

WHAT HAPPENED

Alice Petrossian, assistant superintendent of educational

services, presented changes to the board on the administration's

homework policy.

WHAT IT MEANS

The board and administration's policy on homework was revised by a

committee of teachers, parents and administrators, with input from

the Glendale Council PTA. Petrossian explained that the district

policy was a guideline for school officials to develop their own

homework policies. The policy provides suggestions, like how much

time students should spend on homework and what each assignment

should accomplish.

VOTE

The issue did not require a board vote.
