A 42-year-old woman and her unborn child were killed in a car crash
Thursday on the Ventura (134) Freeway, just east of the Glendale (2)
Freeway, authorities said.
Barbara Scollard of Pasadena was pronounced dead at the scene of
the wreck, which occurred about 1:55 p.m. in the westbound lane in
Eagle Rock, CHP Officer Heather Mangus said. Scollard was six months
pregnant.
Carrie Durston, 20, of Pasadena, was heading westbound on the
freeway in a 1994 Dodge Caravan when she veered right into Scollard's
1986 Honda CRX, Mangus said. Scollard's car careened onto the right
shoulder, ran off into the dirt embankment north of the freeway and
overturned, she said.
The wreck also caused a 1983 Chevy van and 1986 Mercedes-Benz
sedan to crash, Mangus said, adding that no one else was injured.
Police do not know what caused the crash, and are still
investigating the incident, she said, adding that no one was
arrested.
