Youth program accepting donations

August 19, 2004

USC and the Los Angeles Sports Council Foundation are accepting

donations for its annual Touchdown for Youth program.

The program will allow thousands of Southern California's

disadvantaged youth to attend the USC-Colorado State football game at

the L.A. Coliseum on Sept. 11.

The program is in its 12th year and is conducted by USC and the

Sports Council Foundation.

For each $25 tax-deductible contribution from an individual or

corporation, one select child will be provided a ticket to the game,

plus refreshments.

USC jump-started the program with a donation of 500 tickets, which

will be distributed to youth charities affiliated with the

university's athletic department.

Since its inception, the program has allowed more than 27,000

children to attend Los Angeles-area college and professional football

games. Twenty-three hundred youth attended last year's Touchdown for

Youth game between USC and Hawaii.
