La Canada Flintridge is searching for a new public safety

coordinator.

Andrew Pachon, who was the city's emergency services coordinator

Torrance. He resigned last week.

The city will accept applications for the position through Oct.

15. Salary for the position starts at $47,600 annually. The public

safety coordinator staffs the public safety commission and implements

programs that emphasize safety in the city, such as drunk-driving

awareness programs. The person in the position also works closely

with the fire department to conduct controlled burns and coordinates

with emergency personnel to prepare the city in case of a disaster

such as fire or earthquake.

"He was absolutely dedicated and gave his all for the city. We

will miss him tremendously," Councilman Anthony Portantino said of

Pachon. "He made the city as prepared for a disaster as it can be."

Pachon did not reply to requests for comment.
