Las Caritas adopts new philanthropy

Las Caritas Auxiliary of Assistance League of Glendale has

unanimously voted to adopt Project Achieve as its newest

philanthropy.

The co-directors of Project Achieve were guest speakers at the

group's October meeting. Project Achieve is a shelter for homeless

individuals and families, providing them with resources to find jobs,

homes, and other necessities.

Las Caritas, under the leadership of this year's new chairwoman,

Alma Tycer, has already scheduled several fundraising activities.

The group had its first fundraiser Oct. 15 at the Colony Theater

in Burbank, previewing the upcoming play "Grand Hotel." Rosemarie

Lossone organized the event.

The group is planning its annual fundraising day at the races on

March 5 at Santa Anita Park. Ways and Means co-chairmen, Gracella

Gibbs and Mabel Morse, invite the public to attend. For information,

Other board members are Vice-Chairwoman Neva Mason; Recording

Secretary Jan Vallier; Corresponding Secretary Yvonne Elleri;

Treasurer Jan Thompson; Membership, Linda Pebsworth; Philanthropy,

Joanne Brown and Joyce Gelsinger; Ways and Means, Gracella Gibbs and

Mabel Morse; and Parliamentarian, Anne Phelps.

The auxiliary supports other philanthropies, including Health Kits

for Operation School Bell and the Glendale YWCA Domestic Violence

Shelter.
