Let there be light

With Thanksgiving in the rearview mirror, the holiday season is in

full swing. Glendale will celebrate the spirit of the holidays on

Wednesday at its 20th annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony. The

hour-long event at Perkins Plaza, 141 N. Glendale Ave., includes

performances by the Nestle Choir, The Vibe Dance Studio and the

Balboa Elementary School Tunesmiths.

Dancing delight at Glendale College

It's a season of dance at Glendale Community College. The

college's faculty/alumni dance concert, featuring the college's

students and guest artists with choreography by faculty, alumni,

students and guests, is at 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the

college's auditorium, 1500 N. Verdugo Road. Each event is free and

open to the public.

Tea dance at Lanterman House

The Lively Arts History Assn. is having its tea dance 1 to 5 p.m.

Saturday at the Lanterman House, 4420 Encinas Drive. The event will

feature music, poetry, dance and refreshments from the early 20th

century. Featured performers include Ian Whitcomb, Dean Mora and

Sheila Murphy-Nelson. Instruction in tango, one-step and other

popular dances circa 1918 will be offered. Attendants are urged to

wear clothing from the period. Reservations are required. Tickets are
