Unique gifts found at league's boutique

National Charity League, Glendale Chapter presented the

President's Open House and Holiday Boutique recently at the La Canada

Flintridge home of chapter President Kelly Springer.

Guests were greeted by charming merchandise items ranging from

linens and tablecloths, stockings and sachets handmade from vintage

fabric, hand-painted ornaments and jewelry and clothing and

accessories.

Melissa Varraveto was the chairwoman assisted by ways and means

Vice President Gloria Schneider.

Proceeds from the boutique will benefit the chapter's

philanthropies like Twelve Oaks Lodge, a retirement facility in La

Crescenta, and scholarships for women in local schools.

Braille auxiliary members attend luncheon

The annual holiday "Expectations" luncheon of the Braille

Institute Auxiliary will be Dec. 9 in the Crystal Ballroom of the

Beverly Hills Hotel.

Glendale residents planning to attend are Jean Zaik, Rozella Knox

and Jean Roeschlaub, members of the auxiliary's board of directors.

Chairwoman Susan Howard said the proceeds will benefit Braille

Institute's publication of "Expectations," an anthology of children's

literature, and the Special Collection of Braille books for children

sent free to thousands of children worldwide.

Social hour with silent auction begins at 11 a.m. with luncheon

and entertainment at noon featuring the Braille Institute Johnny

Mercer Children's Choir.

Child SHARE benefits

from Christmas Pudding

Westwood Presbyterian Church will present the 10th annual A

Christmas Pudding benefit for Child SHARE of Glendale at 8 p.m.

Friday and Saturday.

This is a charity benefit featuring acclaimed actors performing

poems and stories by Charles Dickens and others interlaced with

holiday songs.

The show also kicks off the 20th anniversary year of Child SHARE,

a nonprofit organization that began at Westwood Presbyterian Church

to find foster and adoptive homes. Proceeds will help find a safe

home for the holidays for abused children.

Tickets to A Christmas Pudding are $50 and $25, with all proceeds

benefiting the Child SHARE program. For reservations, call (877)

Broadway performer sings for Cabrini Guild

The Cabrini Literary Guild will have its next meeting on Dec. 9 at

the Oakmont Country Club in Glendale.

The program will feature singer, actor and Broadway performer Gino

Gaudio, who will sing Broadway tunes and holiday favorites.

Gaudio was in the national touring company of "Seven Brides for

Seven Brothers" and has also appeared locally. His television credits

include "General Hospital" and "Highway to Heaven." Sing in will be

at 11:30 a.m. with lunch served at noon.
