Sally-Ann Winslow Holladay, a longtime resident of La Cañada Flintridge, died November 16, 2004, after a brief but courageous fight with lung cancer.

She was born in Chicago, Ill. on March 29, 1937. She grew up in the Cleveland, Ohio, suburb of Pepper Pike and was graduated from Hathaway Brown School in Cleveland. She then went on to take secretarial courses at the Chandler School in Boston, Massachusetts and later worked in the office of the dean of engineering at MIT.

She married Jay Holladay on May 3, 1958 in Boston. Among the many places she and Jay lived were: Tucson, Ariz. and Johannesburg, South Africa, where her daughter, Beth, was born. From there, they moved to Southern California and eventually settled in La Cañada Flintridge. Sally and Jay divorced in the early 1990s, but remained on good terms. Sally kept busy with all her many interests.

Sally served many volunteer hours at the now closed Glendale Community Hospi-tal in the early '70s and was president of the Glendale Community Hospital Guild in 1974.

She was a dedicated supporter of the La Cañada Flintridge Tournament of Roses. For years she wrote the thank you cards for the Tournament donations, and was there when needed for the organization's telephone tree.

Sally also belonged to the Special Children's League, Foothill Committee. She was a very active member for nearly 30 years, joining in 1977. Sally held a variety of positions as well as president of ways and means and prize chairman for the annual Bingo Brunch which benefited the United Cerebral Palsy/Spastic Children's Foundation. Much of the success of that popular fund raiser can be attributed to Sally's endeavors.

Additionally she was the corresponding secretary and on the Honor Fund Committee and always made herself available for the telephone tree.

Sally also organized a dinner group of Footthill Committee members.

In her own quiet way, she graced all groups with resourcefulness and dignity. She will be greatly missed.

Sally is survived by her only daughter, Beth Myers; son-in-law, Ron Myers; and two grandchildren, Gabrielle and Matthew Myers.

A service for Sally will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at the Little White Chapel, 1711 N. Avon Street, Burbank.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Special Children's League and mailed to Patricia MaGoffin, 4750 Hayman, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011 or to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in her name and memory.
