Selected from among the most honored Girl Scouts in the Pasadena area to carry banners during the 2005 Tournament of Roses Parade were several Crescenta Valley residents.
Scouts selected to be part of the Tournament Troop are Gold Award honorees, the highest award in Girl Scouting. Each had been a scout for at least 10 years and had spent a minimum of 50 hours on a project to benefit the community. In addition, troop members provided a letter of reference with their application and passed a personal interview. Most of the girls are now college students; one is still a student at Crescenta Valley High School. The scouts are Shannon Holstei, Katrina Veeh, Mary LaFace, Katie Schaefer, Lauren Fukuda, Meagan Decker, Kristen Rahtz and Traci Kuratomi.
