ON THE AGENDA

Here are some of the items the Glendale Unified School District

board will discuss Tuesday.

MEASURE K CONSTRUCTION STATUS REPORT

The Glendale Unified School District's Measure K construction is

more than half finished, with 13 of its 30 campuses left to be done.

Measure K is a $186-million bond approved by voters in 1997 to

renovate and modernize the district's schools.

WHAT TO EXPECT

District officials will report that Balboa Elementary will be

finished by the end of February, nearly two months ahead of schedule.

Mountain Avenue Elementary School is nearly finished, with the

exception of one building that needs to be re-stuccoed. The elevator

will be fully operational after it is inspected by state officials.

ARTIFICIAL TRACK AT GLENDALE HIGH

District officials and athletic program advocates want artificial

turf installed at Glendale High School's Moyse Field. The district

does not have the funds to pay for the $1.3-million project, but the

city of Glendale is willing to lend it the money. The money would be

repaid from the tax revenue the district would receive over 20 years

from the Americana at Brand project.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Trustee Chuck Sambar asked that the item be returned to Tuesday's

agenda to be voted on. Sambar and board President Greg Krikorian are

in favor of the project, and Vice President Mary Boger and member Pam

Ellis are against it for mostly financial reasons. Clerk Lina Harper

will likely be the deciding vote.
