the society, Erin gave out chocolate chip cookies or dog biscuits
that she had baked and wrapped, complete with ingredients and a
personal note, as a thank you for their donation.
Her major sales success came from a crafts fair where she was able
to share a booth and solicit donations in exchange for cookies or
biscuits. Her poster about the animal shelter, with cute and cuddly
animal pictures, attracted a lot of attention, and she sold all 75 of
her cookies and biscuits. Over two months, Erin raised $360 for the
society.
She is in her seventh year as a Cadette Girl Scout and has had a
lifelong ambition to become a veterinarian. She is a freshman at
Glendale High School.
Bruce Campbell of Montrose, who writes the service clubs column
for the Glendale News-Press, has earned the status of Advanced
Toastmaster Bronze in the Toastmasters International Communication
and Leadership Program. This designation is earned by the recipient
completing a series of projects designed to enhance their speaking
skills. This requires several years of study and participation in a
Toastmasters club.
Bridget Lander has been named to the dean's list at the University
of San Diego. She attended Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks and
then attended Glendale College for two years before transferring to
the university. She is majoring in communications and leadership and
will graduate in May. Her mother, Cathi Lander, lives in Glendale and
teaches at Glendale High School.
Local students making the dean's list at Tufts University are
Colin N. Legerton of Glendale, Jae R. Cho and Jun W. Lee, both of La
Crescenta.
Stephanie L. Shaw of Glendale, a freshman in the School of
Communication at Northwestern University, has been named to the
dean's list for the fall quarter.
