College Night Slated For Soccer Players at LC High

The San Gabriel Valley Flyers Soccer Club will host a College Night for all high school soccer players, grades 9 through 12, at the La Cañada High auditorium on Sunday, March 6, from 7-9 p.m.

The purpose of the event is to educate players and their parents on the prospects and process of becoming college soccer players.

Men's and women's coaches from Division 1 through 3 colleges will be present to assist players in his/her choices and participants will learn how to spark a college coach's interest and create a soccer plan and timeline for each grade (9-12).

Sample resumes will be discussed and highlight films will be shown.

College advisors will also be present to answer academic and other questions.

The scheduled panel of participating head college coaches, will include: George Kunz - UC Irvine (Men's Division I), Ali Khoroshahin Cal. State Fullerton (Women's Division I), Joey Flanigan - Cal. State Dominguez Hills (Men's Division II), Isabel Harvey - Cal State Los Angeles (Women's Division II) and former member of Canada's National Team, Dan Calichman - Claremont Mckenna College (Men's Division III) and former Major League Soccer defensive player of the year and former LA Galaxy captain, and Keri Sanchez - Claremont Mckenna College (Women's Division III) and former professional player and former captain of North Carolina national championship team

The event is open to all high school age soccer players, regardless of what high school they attend or their affiliation with any clubs or programs.

The College Night is a community service to assist soccer players in their quest to experience college-level soccer. No solicitation or creation of mailing lists will be permitted.
