CV Baseballers Edge California High, 7-6

March 14, 2005

Two home runs by Brian Longpre and Chris Johnson helped the Crescenta Valley boys' varsity baseball team get by California High, 7-6, in the Glendora Tournament on Tuesday at Azusa Pacific University.

The Falcons improved to 1-1 to start the season. They played Bonita in a nonleague game yesterday(Thursday) at Henderson Field, but results were not available at press time.

CV will host Hoover in a Pacific League game next Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Stengel Field in Glendale.

Both homers were two-run shots. Longpre also got the win because he relieved starter Dustin Emmons.

Crescenta Valley High senior Trevor Bell has picked up where he left off last season. He tossed a two-hitter against Riverside Poly last Saturday in the Glendora Tournament at Azusa Pacific University, but the Falcons could manage only one hit as Riverside Poly shut out CV, 2-0.

Against Riverside Poly, Bell struck out eight batters, but one of the hits he gave up was a two-run home run that gave the opponents the victory.
